Why You Should Shop for Sneakers at This Time

sneakers-time-585One of the most important parts of maintaining a workout routine? Shoes that fit! Once upon a time, fashion took priority over function and feel for me, leaving me with shin splints galore. It wasn’t until I tried on a pair of Brooks Running shoes one sunny day that I had an “aha moment.” It was everything. I couldn’t believe that I had spent so many years in these terrible, lifeless shoes that did nothing for me. I cannot stress enough how important the right fit is for keeping your footsies (and legs, too!) happy and injury-free.

Wellwellwell.com recently published an article pointing out four questions you should ask before buying some new sneaks. There was one question that really stood out that I had never considered: What time is it? I think most of us would agree we tend to go shopping only when we have time — whether that be morning, afternoon or night. For those of you who only have time to shop for shoes in the evening, good news! You’ve been doing it right all along.

According to Well Well Well’s research, studies show that your feet swell up around 4 p.m. So, if you go shopping in the morning, odds are the shoes are going to feel very different by the end of the day. It’s important to get measured toward the end of the day to avoid this snug situation.

Ironically enough, I was in the market for some new shoes. Of course, I decided to put this tip to the test and well, the results? The perfect pair of new running shoes!

Ah, so glorious.

WellWellWell.com also profiled three types of shoes to show the varied specification and qualities they can have. Check out what option might be perfect for you here!

Do you have any other tips for finding the perfect sneaker? Something I’ve learned over time is a good pair of running shoes is well worth the splurge. —Erika
